Part A
Divination: Yes-No-Maybe

We have been focusing on the Tarot as our main form of divination. Over the next five weeks I will be suggesting other types divination to experiment with. This week I will outline some ways to get a yes-no answer. This is not a tool to be indulged regularly, but there are times when we really need to know. Be certain that you want to know the answer before you ask, and also be prepared to receive a "maybe" in reply.


Tarot.

Meditate on your question: be certain it is a question with a yes/no answer. Then draw 3 cards. An upright card means "yes;" a reversed card means "no;" a tilted card means "maybe." Choose the answer best reflected by the cards. For example, all three cards in the same position reflect a clear answer. A mixed range of cards reflects an uncertain answer. For less ambiguity, draw one card only.


Runes.

WomanRunes
If you have a set of runes at home, you can use them in the same way. Meditate on your question; then draw one rune. An upright rune means "yes;" a reversed rune means "no." For reassurance, draw 3 runes.




My favorite Rune images are the "WomanRunes" by Shekhinah Mountainwater.  People are currently trying to help Shekhinah get these out to the Women of the World. As a Crone, it is very difficult for her to due finances and health problems.   But the books are now available privately and Runes will soon be available. Pendulum.


Using a pendulum takes more skill and practice than just drawing a card or a rune, and by that token, it can prove to be more accurate. A pendulum can be made with any natural material. A heavy crystal on a necklace chain or string is always a top choice -- but your must have an affinity with your pendulum. A keepsake or special gift can make a wonderful pendulum.

First you must establish communication with your tool. Begin by holding the the string absolutely still and straight so that the bottom weight is about 4 - 6 inches above your tabletop. Now, ask it to show you "yes." This may be a circular motion or a back and forth motion. Still the pendulum and ask it again. Next ask it to show you "no." Repeat. You must be certain that you can understand your pendulum's answers before you move on. If you can't establish communication, try a different pendulum.

Next, test your pendulum by asking it answers to some questions you already know, such as "Is my name GrannyMoon?" and "Is my grandmother's name Fay?" Be certain to ask questions with yes/no answers. Once you are certain that your pendulum is giving you accurate answers, proceed with your divinitory questions.

Later on, your pendulum can be used to give you other information. You can hold your pendulum over a map (hand-drawn or otherwise) or over a list of names and ask your tool to point out the needed answer. This is excellent for finding lost items. You can verify the answer by asking yes/no questions.

This week, experiment with one of the above yes/no oracles.

This week, we will continue integrating chakras with our spiritual work of Magick and/or Prayer. Below is a list of scent associations by chakra.

Tarot Studies.

In the Motherpeace book, read Chapters 31 - 32. Take notes on the Minor Arcana: Priestess and Shamans in your Tarot Journal. If you are familiar with the classic designations of Queens and Kings from another deck, what differences do you notice? Notice that the Shamans are of both genders here. What in these chapters rings false or true for you?

Grandmother Moon.

Look ahead to see which Lunation you will be reading for the next month, then choose a different chapter. You may wish to read about your partner's or child's or friend's birth lunation, or you may just wish to skim the book for a chapter that interests you. Read the chapter up to the Moon Tale. Does this chapter inspire you perform a ritual or other spiritual working this week?

Read the Moon Tale for the current Lunation and write a paragraph in response.
