Hekate

Mistress of the dark moon,

Standing at the crossroads

With howling wolves

And blazing torches

   --Burning Wild Wolf

She was a pre Olympian Goddess who aided Zeus in the battle to defeat the Titans, in which he shared some of his power.  She is the Goddess of wild places, ghosts, necromancy, in-between places, witchcraft, childbirth, midwifery, healing, herb craft, and from the crossroads is where she is called. No one knows for sure where she came from, that is how long she has been worshipped.

Her origins are that she is the daughter of Persis and Asteria thought this changes on who you ask.  She never married and is a virgin goddess, meaning she stands on her own, needs no one to take care of her, even though she had lovers.

Her magic is of many different aspects as listed above, but she is also about love, and oracles, and divinations, potions, protections and guidance.  Her torches provide light in the darkness, her keys unlock the doors you’ve locked and now can’t open, and her labyrinth allows you to go deep inside to learn who you really are.  Hekate helps those who choose her mysteries by encouraging them to overcome the restrictions and obstacles they find in their way, and protects those devoted to her by averting evil or misfortune.

Wisdom and empowerment are the gifts of the Dark Goddess
of Transformation.

She is known to us as Hekate, Kali, Cerridwen, Lilith,
Persephone, Fata, Morgana, Ereshkigal, Arianhrod, Durga,
Inanna, Tiamat, The Morrigan, and by a million, umillion other names:

Hear me child, and know Me for who I am. I have been with you
since you were born, and I will stay with you until you return to Me
at the final dusk.

I am the passionate and seductive lover who inspires the poet to dream.

I am the One who calls to you at the end of your journey. After the day is done, My children find their blessed rest in my embrace.

I am the womb from which all things are born.

I am the shadowy, still tomb; all things must come to Me and bare their breasts to die and be reborn to the Whole.

I am the Sorceress that will not be ruled, the Weaver of Time, the Teacher of Mysteries. I snip the threads that bring my children home to me. I slit the throats of the cruel and drink the blood of the heartless. Swallow your fear and come to me, and you will discover true beauty, strength, and courage.

I am the fury which rips the flesh from injustice.

I am the glowing forge that transforms your inner demons into tools of power. Open yourself to my embrace and overcome.

I am the glinting sword that protects you from harm.

I am the crucible in which all the aspects of yourself merge together in a rainbow of union.

I am the velvet depths of the night sky, the swirling mists of midnight,
shrouded in mystery.  I am the chrysalis in which you will face that which terrifies you and from which you will blossom forth, vibrant and renewed.

Seek me at the crossroads, and you shall be transformed, for once you look upon my face, there is no return.

I am the fire that kisses the shackles away.

I am the cauldron in which all opposites grow to know each other in Truth. I am the web which connects all things.

I am the Healer of all wounds, the Warrior who rights all wrongs in their Time. I make the weak strong. I make the arrogant humble. I raise up the oppressed and empower the disenfranchised. I am Justice tempered with Mercy.

Most importantly, child, I am you. I am part of you, and I am within you. Seek me within and without, and you will be strong. Know me. Venture into the dark so that you may awaken to Balance, Illumination, and Wholeness.

Take my Love with you everywhere and find the Power within to be who you wish.

Hecate Meditation

Close your eyes and start to relax. Take in some deep breaths, and let them out through your mouth. Good again, and one more time. Feel this cloud like mist start to surround your body and as you do you relax even further. Let this mist be like a cloud starting at the bottom of your feet to the top of your head. Its just the right temperate, and you feel wrapped safe and warm in a cocoon of cloud. And that's just what you are. Safe and protected. Feel the cloud absorb into your skin and take one last deep breath and exhale and realize you are so very relaxed.

You find yourself in the dark forest on a dark moon standing on a three way crossroad.  You hear the wolves sing and a shiver runs down your body as you wonder what it coming.  You start to see light, fire torches, held by a beautiful women in black beautiful gauzy dress, with a belt of star low on her hip long into her dress, and a crown of stars that shown like diamonds.  She stands before you holding the torch, the wild hunt at her heels, wolves at her feet, and torches in hand.  On her belt of stars is a scourge and knife.  You have no doubt you are standing in front of the queen of the night, the Goddess Hekate.  She looks at you and smiles.  “You have nothing to fear from me, my child.  I am only hear because to give you something.” She hands you a gift.  Look at your hands.  This is something you’ve been waiting a long time to find again.  What is it she gave you?  What did she return from the shadows?  What should you do with this item?  She asks, “Do you have a gift for me?  A ghost of something you need gone? Something from the past? Anger, Regret or Sorrow?”  Hand her your gift.  She looks you deep in the eyes.  If you ever need me, call, meet me at the cross roads.  She hands you a torch to light your way back.  She continues on past you her wolves howling, the hunt behind her and she slowly disappears.  You take the torch and walk from the cross roads.  Slowly wake up. Open your eyes, take a deep breath and take a moment to ground.  Then journal your event.

I invoke thee

Great Mistress of Heaven, Earth and Sea.

By your mysteries night and day,

By light of the moon and Shadow of the Sun,

I invoke, thee mistress of life, Death, and Rebirth.

Emerge now from the shadow realm to feed my soul

And enlighten my mind.

I have seen the Goddess Hekate in my life and while she may look different than the crone.  I saw a 30ish year old women in a shiny soft black spun dress with a long belt that hung on her hips made of stars, and a crown of stars on her head with stars streaming through her long dark hair.  She had daggers on her belt, and beautiful smoky sliver blue eyes.  She had black wolves with reds eyes at her side, also known as dogs of hellhounds.  I met her at a cross road deep one night, and while she never spoke it was like she could see my whole life, everything was laid bare.  I could feel love, mystery, comfort and a little mischievousness coming from her.  She has been my Patron Goddess ever since.
