"Sweetie Pie"

My loving Mom, Virginia Wright Midgett, was born on June 8, 1937, in a small farmhouse in Rockmart, GA.

After graduating at the local high school, she passionately studied Cosmetology. That passion took her to Atlanta where she worked in her field, quickly growing her clientele.

During the summer of 1962, she took a vacation with her sister, Lynda, to Florida. While in Florida, she met my Dad and they married that fall. They had three daughters, Suzanne, born in 1964, Nancy, born in 1969 and me in 1967.

Mom had a love of cooking that I inherited. Many of my fond memories were in the kitchen, experimenting with the new microwave. We were the first family in the neighborhood to own one. We even laughed at the disasters.

She took cooking classes at the local high school. She studied microwave cooking and cake decorating, among others. We all eagerly helped with the homework and taste testing.

My Mom, Virginia Wright Midgett, fondly known to many as Sweetie Pie, was my best friend. We lost her in April of 1990 of cancer.  She was truly a Goddess among Us.

I dedicate this project to her, the Goddess that taught me how to curl my hair, how to play yahtzee, and how to decorate a birthday cake. I think of you each time I do these things and more.
