The Legend Of Lilith
As Told By Ezevia Rose

Lilith is a BEAUTIFUL Woman AN INDEPENDENT GODDESS, A seductress known as “Wind Storm”, free thinking and given the mobility of spirit and mind.  SHE IS sometimes known AS THE WIFE OF ADAM. These first verses written of her come from “the Alphabet of Ben-Sira” a work probably written in the Gaonic period (600-1000 CE)

Here we find two separate accounts of lilith that are later combined to give us the current myth of Lilith being Adams first Wife.

In “the Alphabet of Ben-Sira” the first account is of Lilith in the Talmud. Here she shows no connection to Adam and is a demon, wild haired and winged.

The second account is Lilith as the ‘first Eve’. However she is not mentioned as LILITH, But as ‘The First Eve’, created of sinew and blood Adam was disgusted and alienated himself from her. God then returned this first Eve to Nothingness and created a second Eve.
These two accounts together, “Lilith of the Talmud” and “the First Eve”, create the Story of Lilith as the Wife of Adam.
Lilith has also been given the name Child Slayer.

Here we see the story of Lilith as she fled Adam.
You see Adam did not feel that Lilith was his equal. Adam only wanted to procreate with Lilith below him; Lilith on the other hand wanted to lie above. Adam scorned Lilith for this and so Lilith called the ineffable name and flew off. Adam called to God, to tell him his Lilith had flown off, God then sent three angels to bring her back, which Lilith refused to do! By not returning it is said that Lilith would permit one hundred children a day to perish. Lilith would not return but gave her word that for every woman who bore an amulet with her name the child would go unharmed.

Lilith is said to have hundreds of demonic children produced by the offspring of masturbating men. She is also accused of causing ‘wet dreams’ in young men. (Although there may be some confusion here where Lilith may be confused with Lilu, demons that killed children and preyed on young men in particular)

Lilith and The Tree of Knowledge: By now Adam has taken Eve for a wife, but lilith likes interrupting Adams life and lilith is sometimes shown as the serpent on the Tree of Knowledge the enticer of eve to eat from the tree. Eve and Adam then became Mortal, while Lilith procures her title of immortal one.

Lilith in Sumerian Art is portrayed with the feet of a bird, Wings, and wearing only a multiple  horned Mitre (a characteristic of High Divinity) Lilith is identified with the owl in the book of Isaiah chapter 34.

It is clearly noted in both Jewish and Christian cultures that Lilith is of Demonic nature.
In many cultures today women are still found to wear amulets to keep their infants and unborn children safe from Lilith.

Lilith has come to those who revere her to show her true nature. Lilith is a Goddess of women. She shows us Strength and courage to do what is necessary in our lives; She is the Patroness of Witches, a Moon goddess that shows us the seductive ways of the Dark Moon. The moon was re-born as Lilith’s spirit. She is the Protectress of Pregnant women, Mothers and Children. It is said that the Lily is the flower of Lilith. She is a Matriarch.

Here are two photos of my project,
Lilith In all her rapturous beauty.

When I first began my project it looked nothing like this, It Seems Lilith had planned exactly what she wanted to be portrayed as,
she worked with my hands in total creation. They say Lilith comes to those who wish to be a part of her. I believe this to be very true.

I constructed Lilith of pure beeswax. I modeled each section of wing to the size of a fingernail and mounted then onto wax paper while working on her body.  I reconstructed Lilith many times before she was happy with my work. I Have portrayed her large breasted as I have always thought of breasts as seductive to men. She has a twisted body to portray herself to eve as the serpent. Also as a Serpent in the Glory of Womanhood.

Art History at a Glance

The oil painting Lady Lilith depicts artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti's version of an ancient figure, but with a twist. Here, the figure is in the guise of a Nineteenth century femme fatale. According to the legend, Lilith was the first wife of Adam. She was both beautiful and devious. Rossetti composed a poem about this woman, in which she is characterized as a dazzling seductress with golden hair that could be used to ensnare a man. And the artist certainly emphasized the deadly charms of Lilith's gold tresses in this painting, for she is caught in the act of combing her luxurious locks while gazing contemplatively into a hand mirror. It is also worth mentioning that two of Rossetti's 'stunners' posed for this work of art - both Fanny Cornforth and Alexa Wilding lent their lovely features to Dante Gabriel Rossetti's enchanting representation of Lady Lilith.

Lilith An Invocation
Written by Lady Pegasus

 Wild is the red wolf
  Running thru the night
Come to me on swift Winds
 Aid me in my Fright
Strengthen my jaded Spirit
As I begin to rise above

Glistening in warriors sweat
In perfect trust and perfect love
Battling against injustice
 Of heart and soul alike
Make me stand like you
Proudly balancing the dark
And the light
 O dark lady lilith
Show me how to be
Strong   wise   free
As my will calls
  So mote it be!
