Yvonne James-Henderson

Yvonne James-Henderson (GrannyMoon) was born 15 June 1951, 12:01 A.M., in Wichita, Kansas, to LaVona Lawson and Paul Jesse James.  She married her husband in August 1968, at the ripe old age of 17, and has this year celebrated her 36th wedding anniversary.  She has 3 children, and 4 grandchildren to whom she is deeply devoted and they are listed at the top of her favorites list.

GrannyMoon comes from a long line of healers.  Her maternal lines have quite a few Granny Women and Bonesetters.  So it is a small wonder that she lists herbs, kitchen magick, essential oils, and teaching as some of her favorite hobbies.  She is the High Priestess and founder of Sisters of the Burning Branch, and Charter Council Member of The Order of the White Moon.  “She has very strong ‘mother-magick’,” and this year has attained the level of Mother High Priestess in the Order of the White Moon.  “Granny was one of the first 3 HPs initiated into the order, and was the first HP to take on students of her own.”  GrannyMoon was brought up in the Mormon Church and began exploring other religions in the 1960’s.  Her qualifications include:  Former staff member and student of the Esoteric Theological Seminary, attended LDS Seminary, Minister with the Metaphysical Interfaith Church; Doctorate in Theology and Divination; Doula, Reiki Master; Lifetime Member of Herbal Healer Academy, Inc.; Distributor of Morganics Products and Independent Distributor of Young Life Oils; Former Virginia State Representative of Alternative Religions Educational Network (A.R.E.N.).

When one asks her peers about Granny they have this to say:  "Yvonne lives by Goddess power.  She is full of light.  She is not strong, physically, yet her soul constantly thinks of new ways to bring sisters closer to the Light, to a soul-link with the Mother we all love so.  She is full of love.  She keeps her sorrows to herself, mostly, and gives a great deal to others.  She is spiritually indefatigable.  I cherish her deeply."  “Granny is a very brave woman, facing frightening illnesses with calm grace.  She is the backbone of her family, always there for her children and grandchildren, and always there for her sister HPs, active on the Council before there even really was a Council! I see her as The Empress, always giving giving giving even when she should be giving to herself insteadI admire and love her.”

From a student’s point of view:  “I soon figured out that there was nothing to worry about here in this school and with you as my teacher. I came to understand that your students can trust you completely; you would not discuss their matters with other students and most importantly - there was no “power over” coming from you and you never tried to manipulate my thoughts and ideas. This all may sound as if it should be a "given" - and yes it should be, but unfortunately it is not. You are a different kind of teacher GrannyMoon. You are a real good one!!

Granny has a cauldron, as you know
And in this cauldron wild things grow.
Wild to the heart, mind, and eyes,
But what she puts in is no surprise.

She keeps the flame, soft and aglow
She shares it with all who want to know.
The light is tended by her sweet love,
To all things below and all things above.

Take from the cauldron of her pure light
It will show you how to set things right.
Her light is a source that never fails
It comes from her heart and that’s no tale.
