Isis is one of the most popular and most worshipped goddesses in the world. She is the Mistress of Magic and the Lady of Psychic Powers and Divination, as well one of the first Great Mother goddesses. Over the centuries, she has absorbed the powers and identities of several lesser goddesses and is known as a Triple Aspect Goddess - Maiden, Mother, Crone. |

Isis and her husband/brother Osiris were deeply in love. Osiris' brother Set coveted his throne. One day Set tricked him into trying out a coffin and then tossed him into the Nile River. Isis found the body of her husband but Set took it back and cut it into many pieces and scattered it. Isis, in mourning, set out and covered the earth looking for the pieces of Osiris. She assembled all the pieces except the phallus, which had been devoured by a crocodile. Then using the magic formula of life (given to her by Thoth or Ra), she fashioned a new phallus for her husband and brought him back to life. She then mated with him and became pregnant with Horus. Osiris faded to the underground where he reigns over the dead. Isis then wandered across Egypt and was refused entrance to a house when she was in labor. She had to give birth with the animals in a manger. She then hid in a swamp after giving birth because Set sought to kill her child. She raised Horus until he was old enough to fight Set. He did so and won. Isis reigns in amenta (the underworld) with Osiris. She is the great mother goddess of all nature on earth and the reigning goddess of heaven as well. Isis is the feminine archetype for creation, the goddess of fertility and motherhood. She represents our feminine aspects - creation, rebirth, ascension, intuition, psychic abilities, higher chakras, higher frequency vibrations, love and compassion. She is the Yin energy, the mother nurturer, the High Priestess, the essence of the feminine energy, which is part of us all. Isis was a magician. She learned her magic from Thoth, although according to some legends, she obtained her powers from Ra himself by tricking him into revealing his name to her, thus acquiring his full magical knowledge. |
This ritual will help you to access the power of Isis to realize what you need to know.
You will need:
Place the silver cloth over the altar. Place the cauldron filled with water in the middle of the altar. Place the purple candles behind the cauldron on either side. Place the incense holder on the eastern corner. Place the moon water on the western corner. Place the amethyst crystal on the northern corner and the pillar candle on the southern corner. Place the quarter candles at the quarter points in a circle around the altar.
Sprinkle the moon water around the circle to cleanse the space. Then using the incense, cast your circle. Once the circle is cast, go to the eastern quarter candle. Call in the element of Air, continue on to the southern quarter candle and call in the element of Fire. Next go to the western quarter candle and call in the element of Water and then move on to the northern quarter candle and call in the element of Earth. Move back the altar at the center of your circle and call to Isis, asking her to be with you throughout your ritual.
As you light the two purple candles from the pillar candle, tell Isis what you would like to accomplish or what particular situation you need more insight. After the candles are lit, meditate on the reason that you are performing this ritual. Once your intent is clear and strong, gaze into the cauldron. Here you will see the message that Isis will send you.
Once you have the information that you need, pick up the amethyst crystal. While you are holding the amethyst, think about what Isis told you. Infuse that into the crystal so that anytime you need to remember or just need some comfort, you will just need to hold the crystal.
Release the quarters and close the circle.
I felt compelled to make some prayer/meditation beads and Isis is the main focal point of my beads. I also have items on it that I would like to focus on when I pray or meditate.
I chose lapis beads (as well as silver beads) for the fillers, as that is one of the stones associated with Isis. I started with a silver pendant of Isis on her knees with her wings spread out and an ankh above her head. I also used a green bead with a moon and stars on it to represent magic. I added colored beads for all the chakras. I also added a sun bead to represent the god, as well as a bead for Hestia, as she spoke to me as well when I was trying to decide which goddess to research. I chose to add a mermaid bead as I have always been drawn to the element of water, as is Isis. There is a pink bead to represent my healing power of reiki as well as colored beads to represent all five elements. I added a moon bead for the goddess to complement my sun bead, as well as adding a white, red and black stone for the Maiden, Mother and Crone. I added a butterfly bead as a symbol of my transformation that I will continue to make as well as a star with a small pearl inside it that represents the power I have in me. Last but not least, I have a azurite bead that looks like a miniature globe to represent Mother Earth and the people that inhabit her.
The Ritual and the Prayer Beads listed above are of my own creation.
