Ancient Mysteries Shamanic High Priestess Training
Dedicated to restoring spiritual balance by restoring the Divine Feminine to her rightful place in the
Welcome to a journey of the ancient shamanistic powers of the female, the Wisewomen. Wisewomen have existed for thousands of years and still exist throughout the world. They know Mother Earth as the ultimate healer, and have learned to utilize the gifts of of nature. Inside each woman is a being of wisdom, deeply connected to the phases of the moon and the tides of the sea. All we need to do is trust our innate wisdom.
"Part of the ancient vision of the goddess was as protector of cities and the sustaining fields around them. She was not, in this role, always a matronly and maternal goddess, but was frequently depicted as a lusty, loving, sensual woman. The power she wielded did not make her any less sexually vibrant. Indeed, her power was part of her erotic attraction."
"The queens and goddesses of myth and legend show us an image of both strength and sensuousness. While today we often equate women's sexuality with weakness and passivity, our forebears saw such goddesses as Ishtar as especially passionate and sexual because of their power. Ishtar and her sister goddesses are potent images of feminine possibility - a possibility that remains despite the 2,500 years that have passed since she was last worshipped." ("The Goddess Companion", Patricia Monaghan)
Shamanism refers to a range of traditional beliefs and practices concerned with communication with the spirit world. The feminine form of the word is not "shamaness" but "shamanka", however, here we will use the word "Priestess".
Healing, gathering and growing herbs and food, keeping communities in balance, presiding over ceremonies and rites of passage, maintaining relations with the dead, teaching, ministering to those in need, communing with nature to learn her secrets ,preserving the wisdom traditions, divining the future, and drumming and dancing with Goddesses, these are feminine shamanic arts. This what you will learn or remember in our classes here!
Sisters of The Burning Branch, is our part of the ancient "shaman's tree”, an image found in several cultures as a symbol for mediation. This ancient tree is seen as a being whose roots belong to the world underneath; its trunk belongs to the middle, human-inhabited world; and its top is related to the upper world.
The curriculum of Sisters of the Burning Branch, is eclectic, borrowed from the teachings of many paths, but rooted in Ancient Women's Spirituality.

Lydia Smith, B.A writes, "There is a movement in this county, and around the world, to get in touch with what I'll call "Goddess Power" energy, both for the healing of ourselves -- all parts of ourselves as women -- and for the healing of the planet. Believing in and working with Goddess Power energy does not need to preclude or discount whatever your current religious faith. There are powerful female archetypes throughout all the world religions. It's another way of getting in touch with ourselves -- seeing our basic womanliness in a new light. Goddess Power is a map -- a way to get somewhere in our lives. Perhaps someplace that we've never visited before. Delight in the trip. "
We'll be going on a journey to learn about Goddesses and Goddess energy from different parts of the world. A journey that crosses genres and cultural boundaries. We will learn exercises and techniques that will help us get in touch with all the exquisite parts of womanhood. Know that what we practice in our lives will come to fruition. If we practice being powerful, and having rich abundant lives -- then our lives will take on that shape. As we sow, so shall we reap. When we practice getting in touch with these magickal parts of ourselves, we make changes in our souls that can make change happen in our lives and in our world.
"Paradoxically, a group of humans becomes healing and converting only after its members have learned to stop trying to heal and convert. Community is a safe place precisely because no one is attempting to heal or convert you, to fix you, to change you. Instead, the members accept you as you are. You are free to be you. And being so free, you are free to discard defenses, masks, disguises; free to seek your own psychological and spiritual health; free to become your whole and holy self." - Scott Peck

Goddess as the Divine
By: Grandmother Moon
"The Thunder, Perfect Mind"
For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one.
I am strength and I am fear.
I am war and I am peace.
In 1945, fifty-three ancient manuscripts were unearthed in Egypt at the site of a second-century monastery.
They contained this wonderful poem, written in the voice of the Feminine Divine.
We see a gathering of women of all walks of life, young girls in Levis, matrons in pearls, mothers, businesswomen, grandmothers, peace and compassion exudes from them. What could they all possibly have in common? Are they feminists you ask? No, they are Woman-ists, sisters, with one goal in mind, to restore Woman and Goddess to her rightful place in the Universe.
The Goddess is calling them and a beacon of light has opened in their collective minds. Her names are many, Our Great Mother, she is Kuan Yin, she is Mary the Virgin, she is Kali, she is Hecate and she is Persephone, her own daughter.
The world is out of balance with an over-emphasis on male-domination and a male divinity. By honoring the Feminine Divine, we honor the Divine in ourselves, as women. We empower ourselves spiritually, psychologically, emotionally, and physically.
Women have been made to feel uncomfortable in the company of other women. They feel they must live up to the standards of the male dominated fashion world, where women are made in the image of a young male. No curves, no hips, no breasts or on the other end of the spectrum, large, exaggerated breasts.
While, we know that world is not “the real world”, women are made to believe that they cannot compete in the male-oriented world. Their job is to look like a Barbie doll, keep the house sparkling, be an angel to men’s children and a slut in their bed. Can you say, “Stepford Wives?”
But guess what? While woman has been asked to do the impossible, she has complied and exceeded all boundaries! Many patriarchal societies still insist on the women covering their heads or faces with veils. Horrendously painful circumcisions are performed on young girls as a right of passage. Baby girls are drowned at birth, “Why”, you ask? Because these men are afraid and they should be very afraid!
Woman equals power! Much to the scientists dismay only a female can bear a child and feed it with food made by her own body. A woman has perceptive powers that the male society has tried to scourge. Woman has a strength and power that men will never know.
By peeling back the patriarchal eras, layer by layer, we find that women were the first to be honored and worshiped. Mother Nature, Mother Earth...and why? Because of her power! Ever heard the cliché, “Hell hath no fury, like a women scorned”. It makes me think, “Don’t piss off Mother Nature!”
Her wide hips made for child bearing; her breasts for giving sustenance to her children, her belly and womb to give life to her child were revered. Not just in human form, we see this in all of nature.
“As above, so below, Heaven and Earth.”
As women remember the ancient and reclaim their intuitiveness, there is a gathering together.
Women drawing together to feel that power emerge. Prayers groups of all religions and pagan circles of many paths are uniting their energies to accomplish great healings of mind, body and spirit.
They affirm the Goddess and each other's existence. These affirmations increase a woman’s self-confidence; they feel better in body, mind, and spirit and will be more in control of their life.
There is a restoration of Spiritual Balance. Woman is finding her family again... her sisters of the universe and Her Mother.
